Sateenkaarihistorian ystävät ry / The Friends of Queer History will award a series of small grants to grassroots actors who want to organise activities related to queer history. With these grants, the association wants to support local activities that highlight queer history, especially history that has received less attention.
The deadline for applications is 22.10. until 23:59, and applications will be processed on 23.10. in the week ahead. Applications may be processed and accepted during the application period, provided that the applicant aims to organise an activity in the framework of Rainbow History Month 2023 in November. The grant can be used until the end of 2024.
Each individual grant is 500 euros, and grants can be awarded to ten different applicants. An association, community, working group or individual can apply for the grant. The activities may be scientific, artistic or community-based. It could be a discussion, an exhibition, a guided tour, a workshop or something else. The activity cannot be commercial.
We encourage you to consider the ethics of the activity and good practices that promote equality and safety. The grant can also be used to improve the accessibility of an event that is already planned, for example.
The association makes grant decisions on a discretionary basis, based on applications.
In order to receive a grant, the recipient must commit to producing some material, such as photographs or text, from the activities carried out that can be published and/or archived by our association. This could be an event report, a blog post, documentation of artistic work or workshop, etc. The association will gladly provide visibility for the activity through its own communication channels, if it serves the purpose of the activity.
If necessary, the association will contact the applicant to request further information for the application.
